The sun is running out of energy and the world needs your help to power a new one!

You collect power by LEFT-CLICKING the shards that break off from the Power Crystal! Once you collect enough power crystal shards, you can buy upgrades until you unlock the final upgrade, launching the new sun! New upgrades are unlocked once you buy at least 5 of the previous upgrade.

Lightbulb Program is a small idle, clicker game made for Kenney Jam 2025. This is my first game jam ever and I'm pretty happy with what I was able to make in such a short amount of time. A little boring maybe but I think it's charming!

As this was made in a short amount of time, bugs are to be expected.

The following Kenney assets were used:

Game Music Loop 9 by XtremeFreddy was used for the background music.

Let's trade feedback! I submitted a project too. Congrats on finishing a simple game loop on your first Jam.

Gameplay: It starts out fairly slow but does ramp up after getting enough buffer miner. The minions didn't seem to have as much impact as I'd expect, if you invest a lot into it. The Buffer miner is much more apparent in the ramp-up. Perhaps have the minions increase in size or different types are summoned if you continue to invest in that.

UI Interface: I recommend adjusting your Godot settings to the game can go full-screen. Or on your ItchIo setting page enable the full-screen option there. Hard to play with the UI so small.

PowerUps / Buyables: I get starting out with one buyable, the minions. But after getting that 5 times, I think two powerups should unlock instead of just Buff Miner. For every 5 investments, two more Powerups should unlock. So that I feel I actually have to weigh my choices in where I invest. Right now, the choice is linear for such a long while. A better system is unlocking two powerups at a time for player sense of urgency in using their limited energy.

Art: Good use of the many asset packs you listed. Very simple concept as a clicker game. The level doesn't change; fairly straightforward. It'd be cool if the level change over time based on the energy you gathered. Or if there are NPC's that pop up trying to escape the planet. Or rockets appear in the background showing people escaping. Or perhaps the sky darkens the longer you wait. Adding cues over time to show how critical this situation is and the effect on the world we're in / trying to save.

Gets really fun once the pace picks up.

Initially I also wanted to create an idle resource gathering game, but in 3D. I changed my minds since I though it might not be interesting enough. Your submission proved me wrong.

Well done! 👏

I'm impressed by this game's engine to handle big numbers

This was fun btw. ;-)

Very cute and very addicting! Congratulations on making this! :)

It feels very slow at the beginning, but as soon as crystal efficiency is unlocked, it suddenly becomes fast. You will certainly find better math there :)

Also connected to math: why not use whole numbers only? Probably is personal taste, but my brain did not approve of the decimals from the cost increase. With whole numbers you can also easily fix the digits jumping around.

But as others pointed out already: it has a nice atmosphere and i really enjoyed the shards flying around and not just clicking on one point the whole time :)

A very good idle game! I love how you use only the pre-made assets and are able to craft a game with such a good atmosphere. The lightning is fantastic, too.

I have a few suggestions for the game too, just a few minor details:

1. For me, it can be a bit boring in the middle, before I unlock the crystal efficiency. Because the next level up isn't visible, it can feel like I'm not progressing at all.

2. The music doesn't continue after it has finished.

3. At the start, i'm quite confused on what to do, maybe add an in-game tutorial? (A simple mouse hovering toward it will be fine.) [I'm not the type to read the description unless neccessary, I want to experience the game as a whole.]

That's all! Pretty solid game nonetheless. 7.5/10!

Finished it whole. Quite entertaining :). Managed to gain number so huge it was larger than whole screen thanks to shard efficiency.

Very cool! I wish we could have multiple miners in the beginning. I liked when the blocks stacked each other even though it was probably unintended!

This is so adorable i love this
